THE BACON'S ARE MOVING
The way you live your days is the way you live your life
For the past couple years, Leah and I have been looking into our days and lives, questioning what we want to bring into them. As Ellie turned five and now six this past summer, we realized the time to bring those things into our lives is now. We want to give her and ourselves the opportunity to experience more frequent connections to larger outdoor experiences that include the Sierra, lakes, rivers, snow… Affordable housing that offers our family more space has been another growing desire.
Essential to our relocation was for Ellie to continue her attendance to a Waldorf school. One of the largest Waldorf schools we discovered is in Sacramento county, providing us close proximity to the Sierra. The school offers K-12 education on one, 22-acre campus with 80 acres of open recreational space along the American River. Ellie’s class will enjoy weekly nature hikes through all this open space. After days touring the region, we found Folsom county, in particular, the western region next to Lake Natoma, to be everything we were looking for. Lake Natoma is a large recreational lake surrounded by miles of bike and hiking trails, river-side beaches, boating, etc…
Folsom has a revitalized historic district with restaurants and other attractions as well as a modern outdoor retail region that includes a Whole Foods, Barnes and Nobbles, Costco, etc. Drives to Auburn, Tahoe and other regional lakes in the Sierra will be fifteen minutes to an hour and a half away, so we’re very excited about all the possibilities. All of this comes with housing as varied as what can be found along the 680 corridor at about half the price.
Please keep Ellie on your birthday party considerations, using our new joint family email.
